No worries about UT season

A friend at work said he was amazed to hear me being so accepting of Tennessee's football losses this season.

So far the Vols have beaten Western Kentucky, Ohio and Florida, and lost to UCLA and Auburn.

The Florida game is counted as a win because we lost only by 10 points, not the expected ass-woopin we was sposed to get that day. I watched the game at a Gator-filled sports bar, and it was quiet as a tomb as the Vol defense repeatedly pounded Timmy Bob Tebow and rained all over drama queen Urban Whiner's feigned intensity. Best of all, T-shirts like these sucked up a lot of Gator money and are now resigned to thrift stores. Suckers.

No, after beating Florida, my season is made. Plus, I share CLK's no-worries philosophy, as reported on by GoVolsXtra.com. Kiffin's constant skewering of Urban Whiner all season helped land UT one of the best recruiting classes in the nation. All is well.

So I and the rest of Orange Nation are going into today's Georgia game with a sense of serenity. It's with the same sense of equanimity that I am posting this mish-mash of photos from my brother Rod (the canoe and lifter thingie) and my friend Larry (the Beetle). All are sweet, Orange vehicles. Thanks for sharing.

  1. Stage one, denial. It's just the normal way of dealing with grief.

  2. I was at a recent lunch meeting with some of the local natives and employees from the west coast. The natives started in about tebow and rambling on about how great it was. Not only did the west coast employees not care who tebow was, for about ten minutes of the conversation, they thought the gator fans were talking about TiVo. It was fun to watch the dissapointment on the gator fans faces once they realized, outside of Gainesville, no one cares.
